Weight Loss Tips
Maintaining a healthy weight is one important key to living a long happy life.  Excess weight causes inflammation and leads to diseases like diabetes.  Sometimes you may eat more than your body needs out of habit or to satisfy yourself emotionally.  Once you understand the emotional reasons behind why you may be eating too much, it can be easier to maintain a healthy weight. Here are some weight loss tips that may help you loose any excess weight you have more easily.

Magnesium

Magnesium is used by your body for over 300 metabolic processes and most people are deficient.  It can help you loose weight because it turns food into energy and can help trigger fat burning.  It also helps balance hormones which play a role in weight management.  Finally, this critical mineral helps your body detox which is so important given what you are exposed to daily.

Healthy Fats

Your body needs healthy fats to balance the hormones that trigger hunger.   Ideally, you need to consume both omega-3 and omega-6 fats in a ratio of 4:1.  The best way to get a healthy balance is to eat fresh whole foods and avoid processed foods.  Omega-3 fats increase metabolism and help flush water from the kidneys.  Some good sources of omega-3 fats are wild caught salmon,  flax seeds, chia seeds,  walnuts and coconut oil.

Friendly Bacteria

Your body hosts at least 10,000 different species of bacteria.  The majority of them live in your gut.  If your gut microbiome is balanced, the good bacteria (probiotics) will keep the bad bacteria in check.  The good bacteria support important functions including immune response, digestion, and the absorption of nutrients.  The microbiome also helps control hunger hormones and blood sugar levels.  Because it assists in the removal of toxins and waste, some experts call the gut microbiome the “second liver.”  Foods that contain natural probiotics include plain yogurt or kefir, sauerkraut, and miso (fermented soybeans).  Prebiotics feed the good bacteria and include onions, garlic, leeks, oregano, jicama, Jerusalem artichokes and miso.

Lymphatic System

Your lymphatic system consists of a network of tiny vessels under the skin.  Your tonsils, adenoids, spleen and thymus are also part of the lymphatic system that rids your body of toxins, bacteria, heavy metals, dead cells and trapped fat.  Cellulite can be an indicator of a sluggish lymphatic system.  Your lymphatic system doesn't have a pump to move the fluid, it requires movement.  So the more you move, the healthier your lymphatic system.   Keeping your body hydrated with clean purified water is also important for the lymphatic system.

Liver

Keeping your liver healthy is an important factor in weight control.  It is the key organ for fat control and it performs nearly 500 other tasks in your body. It is the main organ for detoxifying pollutants, hormones, and chemicals.  Reducing the amount of toxins that your body is exposed to lightens the load on your liver.  Fresh lemon juice in purified water twice a day can help keep the liver healthy, along with drinking liver supporting teas.  Some good teas for the liver are milk thistle, dandelion, green, licorice and ginger.
