Calming

Ashwagandha can be very helpful if you are under emotional stress.  It can cross the blood brain barrier and can have a calming effect in the brain.  Studies have backed this up and have shown that it can regulate mood in the case of exposure to stressors that can cause sadness or anxiety.

Ashwagandha has been studied for it's beneficial effects on athletic performance, muscle strength, endurance, and oxygen use during exercise.

Reduces Cravings

One study showed that the control group taking ashwagandha daily had reduced food cravings.  This resulted in weight loss.  If you are exercising while taking it, you may see growth in your muscles and less body fat.

Improves Sleep

Several compounds in ashwagandha can help you fall asleep faster, have better quality sleep, and sleep longer.  Researchers have found that that there are several ways that ashwagandha can have a posititive impact on your sleep and help you wake up alert and refreshed.

Brain Function

Ashwagandha contains compounds that have antioxidant effects in your brain.  It also can help reduce cognitive decline and memory loss that is considered a normal part of aging.  It does this by supporting natural levels of neurotransmitters in your brain.  Other studies have shown that it protects your brain from the negative effects that chemicals, like MSG, can have on it.
