Natural Solutions for Upset Stomach
Even if you have a healthy gut microbiome, you may get the occasional upset stomach.   It can happen because of a different food, or drink, that you aren't used to.  Or maybe you are under stress and it is challenging your digestion.  Or maybe you just ate too much. Here are some natural solutions for an upset stomach.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is a well known remedy for stomach problems.  It works best if you use raw apple cider vinegar and add a teaspoon to some water.  Drink this before you eat to help populate your stomach with digestive enzymes and start the digestion process.  You can also try this after you eat to see if helps balance the pH balance in your stomach.  Fresh squeezed lemon juice can be used in the same way.

Herbal Tea

Sipping on a warm cup of herbal tea after a meal can relax your stomach and relieve bloating.  There are ready made blends of teas that are used to help digestion.  Or you can try single teas like chamomile, peppermint, and spearmint.  Ginger is not an herb, it is a root.  But having ginger tea can also be helpful for soothing your stomach.  You can buy ginger as a tea, syrup, capsule, or simply add a few slices to some tea water.

Magnesium

Magnesium is used by over 300 functions in the body.  If you do not have enough magenesium, it can affect your digestion.  Besides making sure you have enough magnesium, it can be applied topically as a cream to your stomach so that it can help relax your digestive tract.  Magnesium is also found in Epsom salts, so taking a warm Epsom salt bath may be very helpful.

Baking Soda

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and water can help soothe your stomach if it is too acidic.  Sodium bicarbonate is the main ingredient in many over-the-counter antacids.  Add  a half a teaspoon to a glass of warm water to see if it settles your stomach.

Aloe Vera Juice

The aloe plant has been used for thousands of years as a health remedy both topically and internally.  It has strong antioxidant properties which allows it to help reduce inflammation.  It also has antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic properties. You can try it as a liquid if you develop an upset stomach.  Or you can add it to your daily supplement routine to help sooth your entire digestive tract.
