Foods That Help You Burn Fat
Eating a healthy unprocessed food diet is important for your overall wellness.  Nutrient dense foods and fiber can help you feel full longer and is a good weight management strategy.  Eating those types of foods have the additional benefit of keeping your blood sugar balanced.  There are some foods that are healthy for you and that can help you burn fat.  Belly fat can be particularly difficult to eliminate and these foods may help.

Hot Spices

Eating spicy foods can help you burn more fat because they cause you to use more energy.  They can also help you feel less hungry.  Cayenne pepper is a common spice that has been studied for it's health benefits.  It is loaded with antioxidants  and is a good source of vitamin A. Adding the dried pepper to your  food and drink (Mexican hot chocolate, tomato juice, etc.) is an easy way to help your body burn fat.  You've probably experienced another benefit of cayenne pepper when you had a runny nose from eating spicy foods.  So yes - cayenne pepper can help clear congestion.  Other hot spices with similar benefits are ginger, horseradish, wasabi, jalepenos and mustard seed.

Medium Chain Fats

Your body can easily digest medium chain fats and use it for energy.  Coconut oil is considered one of the healthiest oils you can consume because of this.  It is filling and can support a healthy metabolism.  Ghee, or clarified butter, is another healthy fat that is rich in medium chain fats.  Ghee is a good option to use for cooking because of it's high smoke point.  Another name for medium chain fats is medium-chain triglyeride or MCT oil.  It has been used by atheletes to help improve performance.

Seeds

Seeds are very nutritious since they contain everything needed to become a plant.  They are full of healthy fats, fiber and antioxidants.  Chia seeds can be particularly helpful in supporting a healthy weight because they increase your energy.  In addition, they slow your digestion and reduce your appetite because of how much water they absorb.  Flax seed powder hemp, sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds are other great options for maximizing the nutrition you get in your diet.

Protein

Eating enough protein supplies your body with the necessary ingredients to create and maintain cells.  Your body does not store protein - it uses it to build, repair, and make enzymes.  Your body can also use it to speed up recovery after an injury or exercise.  Protein is an essential component of a healthy weight strategy because it takes energy to digest and it will help you feel full longer.  Good protein sources include organic meats, wild caught fish, organic nuts and eggs, legumes and cheese.

Greens

Eating plenty of different types of greens will allow you to get lots of nutrients, antioxidants and fiber.  Your body uses the vitamins in the plants to maintain metabolic function which can help you burn fat.  Greens are full of fiber and will help you stay full longer.  The vitamin K in many greens supports your bone health.  Cruciferous vegetables have been studied for their ability to prevent obesity.  This includes plants like Brussel sprouts, cauliflower and kale.
