Heart Health
Keeping your cardiovascular (circulatory) system healthy is important so that you have plenty of energy and a long healthy life.  Your veins (also called blood vessels) and arteries are part of your cardiovascular system.  They carry blood to and from your heart.  If they become inflamed or clogged, your heart won't get the oxygen it needs to function well.  The good news is that the same things you can do to reduce inflammation in your cardiovascular system, are the same things that can help solve other health issues.  Here are some things you can do to have good heart health.

Reduce Stress

Being under stress causes the release of hormones that can lead to inflammation over time.  High levels of stress over long periods of time can also suppress the immune system, interfere with digestion, slow metabolism and more.  Prolonged periods of high stress can impact almost every body system.  There are many ways to reduce stress depending on the cause.  If you're not sure what to do, ask a trusted friend to share with you their observation of what causes you stress.  Possible ways to reduce stress include meditation, yoga, journaling, getting good sleep and making time for something you enjoy.

Diet

Processed foods often contain inflammation causing industrial oils, artificial ingredients and colors, and other unhealthy ingredients.  If you are stressed and pressed for time and are eating processed foods, you've got two sources of inflammation.  Take the time to slow down and eat something fresh and healthy.  Some of the best foods to eat include vegetables of all kinds,  darkly colored berries, nuts, seeds along with  avocados, legumes, and beans.  Green tea is also highly anti-inflammatory and is considered one of the healthiest drinks you can consume.

Supplements

You can control inflammation by making sure your omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid levels are in the recommended range of 1:4.  Omega-3's are found in foods such as fish, garlic, walnuts and olive oil.  Omega-6's are in dairy and animal meats.  If you're not consuming enough Omega-3's then one of the best supplements that you can take is an Omega-3 supplement.  Labdoor.com tests and scores both fish based and vegan based Omega-3 supplements.  Other supplements that can help reduce inflammation and support the body include vitamin C, vitamin D, and magnesium.

Exercise

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health.  It can be as simple as walking or gardening.  You just need to move so that your lymphatic system can cleanse toxins from your body and oxygen is distributed throughout.  In addition, exercise can help reduce blood pressure, control your weight, strengthen muscles, and balance blood pressure.

Emotional Health

Your overall emotional health can affect your heart health too.  In the blue zone areas, where people live some of the longest lives, people have a sense of community.  It is thought that people who are lonely or depressed, have a higher risk of heart disease.  Studies are also showing that people with severe mood disorders are more at risk as well.  Your ability to manage stress and your emotional health is another  key to your heart health and overall wellness.

Did this help you?  If so, I'd greatly appreciate it if you commented and/or share it on social media.
