Fill Up On Fiber
Eating a diet rich in fiber can greatly improve your health.  Fiber is found in the cell walls of plants.  And since you don't have the digestive enzymes to break it down, it passes through your system whole.  Insoluble and soluble fiber are the two different types of fiber.  And they both benefit your body in different ways.  For example, soluble fiber is a prebiotic that feeds the good bacteria in your gut.  Meat, eggs, and dairy, do not contain fiber.  Here are some more reasons you want to fill up on fiber.

Blood Sugar Balance

Fiber slows down your digestion and allows the sugars in your food to be absorbed more slowly.   Beans are an insoluble fiber and have been extensively studied for their ability to help maintain lower blood sugar levels.  Eating a diet full of both soluble and insoluble fiber may help you avoid any blood sugar issues.

Heart Health

Soluble fiber helps maintain lower cholesterol levels, which can benefit your heart.  That is why oatmeal is recommended as a healthy breakfast choice.  Add some dark berries for more fiber and antioxidants.  Fiber consumption has been studied for it's ability to positively impact your cardiovascular health.

Waste Removal

Insoluble fiber helps move food and waste through your body.  Examples of insoluble fiber are whole-wheat flour, wheat bran, nuts, beans and vegetables, such as cauliflower, green beans and potatoes.  The faster waste can move through your system, the less likely it is to cause inflammation and health issues.  In fact, fiber has been studied for it's ability to reduce the risk of developing some types of cancer.

Healthy Weight

Fiber rich foods tend to make you feel full longer than non-fiber foods.  They also tend to contain fewer calories than non-fiber foods.  If you are trying to maintain a healthy weight, this is a win-win situation.

Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidants

If you eat a diet full of a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains, you will be consuming a wide range of vitamins and minerals.  In addition, dark fruits and vegetables in particular, are loaded with antioxidants which reduce inflammation.  Antioxidants are also helpful for repairing damage to cells.
