Little Known Ways to Loose Weight
No doubt you are aware that eating too much food, empty calories, and not exercising can lead to weight gain.  Maintaining a healthy weight is important for the health of your organs and your blood.  The most troublesome type of fat is deep belly fat.  It has been associated with serious health issues like diabetes, osteoarthritis, certain types of cancer, and coronary disease.  In addition to exercising consistently and getting good sleep, here are some little known ways to loose weight.

Obesogens

The chemicals used in plastics for food storage, cookware, and packaging have been shown to be involved in weight gain.  They interfere with your metabolism and your natural hormone balance and become stored in your body.  They also interfere with the hormones that control your appetite and sense of fullness.  One class of chemicals called phthalates, is used in a wide range of cosmetic and food products, food containers, sunscreens, detergents and more.  It is thought that 75% of Americans have detectable levels of phthalates in their body.  There are other chemicals that are obesogens and are equally as troubling.  They are used in packaging, farming, paints, fragrances, and can end up in your drinking water.  Eliminating these toxins may help you with maintaining a healthy weight and healthy body.

Soluble Fiber

Eating foods that you freshly prepare will result in you eating more of a high-fiber diet which is beneficial for controlling appetite, digestion, heart health and more.  It also means you will be avoiding the toxic chemicals, fats, and sugars found in processed foods.  In particular, if you increase your intake of soluble fiber, it can attach to cholesterol particles and remove them from your digestive system.  This will lower your risk of heart disease as well as help you lose fat.  Soluble fiber is found in foods like oats, barley, peas, carrots, beans, apples, citrus fruits and psyllium.  Soluble fiber takes longer to digest, so it can help you feel full longer.  If you are trying to loose weight, it is important to eliminate, or greatly reduce the amount of grains you consume.

Intermittent Fasting

If you haven't tried it, you may want to consider eating all of your calories in a smaller window of time. The most common is a 6 to 8 hour window.  Focus on consuming fresh healthy fats, protein, and vegetables and you may find your metabolism shifts and you're actually eating fewer calories.  Intermittent fasting has been studied for it's positive affects on blood sugar levels, hormone balance, and the ability to allow the body to detox more effectively.

Fat Burning Foods

There are some spices and teas that can actually speed up your metabolism.   Cayenne pepper is a great example.  You've probably experienced some sweating when you've eaten spicy foods.  Hot peppers are also a powerful anti-inflammatory food.  The capsaicin found in cayenne pepper has been studied for it's ability to help break down fat.  You can add cayenne pepper to foods and drinks to speed up your metabolism and burn extra fat.  There have also been many studies that show drinking green tea can help speed up your metabolism.  It is considered one of the healthiest drinks you can have because of the high levels of antioxidants it contains.  Your body will burn more calories digesting nutrient dense foods than when you eat high carbohydrate foods.  And foods containing higher levels of protein will help you feel full longer.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of filtered water and organic teas will help you feel full.  Staying hydrated is also important for many body functions.  It helps to keep joints lubricated, deliver nutrients to cells, prevent infections,  and brain function. Eating fruits and vegetables that contain lots of fiber and are rich in water is another great way to stay hydrated and feel full at the same time.  Watermelon, celery, zucchini, and cucumber are great options.  Having a salad or broth based soup before a bigger meal is another good way to stay hydrated and avoid eating too many calories during your main meal.
