Natural Relief for Discomfort
If you experience discomfort in your body and you're not wanting to take a commercial product, there are some natural options.  It is becoming more widely know that commercial products have more risks and downsides than you may have previously thought.  It has been so easy to just pop a pill and get relief a short while later.  Fortunately, there have been studies on plant based, and other options, that offer natural relief for discomfort.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a widely used natural plant solution to help reduce inflammation.  It comes from the root of a native Asian plant and has been used as a spice for hundreds of years.  It is rich in antioxidents and other phytonutrients that can help protect your body from the damage done by free radicals.  The most studied component of turmeric is circumin.  One important thing to know about turmeric is that it is difficult for your body to absorb.  Black pepper has been shown to make it more bioavailable.  So if you add it to your diet as a spice, or take it as a supplement, make sure to add black pepper.

Ginger

Ginger is related to turmeric.  It also comes from the root of a plant that is native to Asia.  The active phytonutrient in it is gingerol.  Ginger can be used to help minimize discomfort and reduce inflammation.  It has also been used to improve digestion and reduce the symptoms of motion sickness.  There is even an alcoholic drink that combines ginger, lemon, and whisky, to help fight a cold or flu.   Like turmeric, you can add it to your diet as a spice, or you can take it as a supplement.

Arnica

Arnica has been used to treat injuries since the 1500s.  The flower heads are used to create salves, tinctures, creams, and homeopathic remedies.  It is most often used to help minimize the pain due to injuries, such as a sprain and muscle aches.  But it is also used to reduce inflammation and swelling.  It is a great natural option to have on hand in your first aid kit.

Accupuncture

Accupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that is used to balance the energy pathways in the body.  A good practioner understands how the energy pathways in your body can effect your health.  Tiny needles are inserted at the appropriate locations to help bring relief to your condition.  It can be used for anything including migranes, poor digestion, injuries, and pain.

Essential Oils

Essential oils come from the leaves, petals, stems, and bark of plants.  When you smell a flower, grass, or tree, it is the plant's essential oil that you smell.  Essential oils have been used since biblical times for medicinal and non-medicinal reasons.  Each plant produces a unique essential oil that contains a broad range of phytochemicals.  The method used to extract the essential oil can determine it's effectivness.  The oils can be used to treat physical discomfort, respiratory issues, difficulties falling asleep, emotional issues, and more.  The most common oils used for physical discomfort include lavender, wintergreen, peppermint, rosemary, ginger, eucalyptus, clove, lemongrass, and cypress.

Did this help you?  If so, I'd greatly appreciate it if you commented and/or share it on social media.
